I have specialist experience in complex trauma and CAMHS. With years of experience utilising TF-CBT, MBT-A and chair based work within a Phased Based approach.
Sessions will be flexible to what you need: practical guidance, reflective space, or deeper formulation work.

About Me

Hello, I’m Charlie StrongI’m a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with specialist experience in complex trauma, child and adolescent mental health, and reflective practice within high-complexity services.I’ve spent my career supporting young people, families, and multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on trauma-informed approaches and compassionate evidence based clinical work.
With nearly a decade working in specialist NHS trauma services and over 13 years working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, I’ve come to deeply value the quieter spaces where clinicians can pause, reflect- steady themselves!- and reconnect with why they do this work. My supervision and consultation practice grew from that place — a belief that practitioners deserve thoughtful, supportive, non-judgemental spaces to think, breathe, and develop.
Alongside direct clinical work, I’ve contributed to service development, national training initiatives, and led the rollout of Scotland’s trauma training strategy in NHS GGC CAMHS. These experiences have shaped how I hold the bigger picture of systems, pressures, expectations, and the emotional weight of the work practitioners carry. The work matters — but so do the people carrying it.

My Approach

I bring a calm, grounded style, with a blend of curiosity, clinical rigour, warmth, and humanity. I strive to make it:Collaborative — we think together, as equalsReflective — space to slow down and make sense of what’s happening. Taking into account the bigger picture, outside of the therapeutic relationship.Trauma-informed — for the young people/families you support, but also for practitionersEmotionally aware — noticing the impact of the work on youPractical where needed — formulations, ideas and next steps or a steer on the evidence base and research to look at.My aim is to help you feel steadier, clearer, and more supported in the work you do.

My Values

Compassion
A commitment to holding practitioners with the same care and gentleness they offer to others. Compassion makes space for honesty, vulnerability, and growth.
Curiosity
As someone utilising MBT-A on a regular basis I truly value a stance of open exploration and “not knowing” — leaning into questions rather than rushing toward solutions. Curiosity helps us see nuance, patterns, and possibility.
Integrity
Being grounded, authentic, and transparent. What we say, how we think, and how we work should align with what we believe is right and effective.
Safety
Psychological safety is key. Supervision should feel like a space where you can bring the full complexity of your work without fear of judgement.
Sustainability
Supporting clinicians to practice in a way that protects their wellbeing, honours their limits, and acknowledges the emotional labour of the work.
Connection
Meaningful supervision is relational. It’s the connection — the trust, feeing safe, being held in mind — this is what makes the work meaningful and most helpful.

The Practical

I work within the HCPC and BPS professional standards. (HCPC Registration Number: PYL28345)Although I will hold space for the emotional impact of the work, please bare in mind supervision is not therapy.I am registered with the ICO and adhere to GDPR.
